sinosat-2 satellite
on 20 may 2002, sino satellite communications company ltd. and cast signed sinosat-2 purchase contract. sinosat2 is based on the dongfanghong-4 satellite platform, which is developed by cast. sinosat2 is focused on providing service for customers in china and southeast asia. sinosat-2 is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2005.

 apstar
in order to capture communications satellite market in hongkong, macao and china’s peripheral regions, which has been occupied by european and american satellites, supported by chinese government and china aerospace science and technology corporation, cast is active to cooperate with apt satellite holdings limited, and participated in international biding for apstar-5b. cast and apt satellite holdings held several technology and business meetings on apstar-5b backup satellite and defined all satellite-related technical appendixes.
currently, the two parties are negotiating an apstar-5b backup satellite contract, which is expected to be signed in 2002.
this project indicated that cast’s new generation of high capacity broadcasting communications satellites can meet the requirements of the top-ranking satellite company in asia, and is capable of participating in international competition in large-sized communications satellite market.
through this project, china will make breakthrough in complete satellite export, and start a good beginning of exploiting the communications satellite market in asia-pacific region and taking part in international competition in aerospace market.
